Privacy policy

Your files never leave your device. Here is the little we do handle, and why.

Last updated:

The short version

  • The files you convert stay on your device. We never receive, see or store them.
  • There's no account, no advertising and no payment. We don't set cookies.
  • If you join Pro early access, we keep your email to tell you about Pro. We don't sell it or share it with anyone.
  • We count visits and a few product events with Umami, a cookieless analytics service. File names and file contents are never sent.

turboconvert.xyz is run by Emor Space Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we"), which is responsible for the personal data described here. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@turboconvert.xyz.

Your files

When you choose a file, your browser hands it to a Web Worker, a background process inside the same tab, which reads it there. The conversion happens there too, and the new file comes straight back to you as a download.

The conversion worker runs under its own Content Security Policy, which blocks every network request, so it couldn't send your file anywhere even by mistake. You can read that policy and test it yourself on How it works.

We keep no copies. Your file and its result live in your browser's memory until you close or reload the tab.

Hosting and security

The site runs on Cloudflare (Workers and static assets). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse: your IP address, browser details, the pages you request and when. We use this only to run the site and keep it safe, for example by rate limiting the early access form. Cloudflare handles it under its own privacy policy.

Pro early access

Pro isn't open yet. If you join the early access list, we store:

  • your email address, trimmed and in lower case;
  • where you joined: the batch, ZIP or large-file card, or the pricing page;
  • the plan you're interested in: Week Pass, Pro, or not sure yet;
  • the date and time you joined.

This is kept in a Cloudflare D1 database. We use it for one thing: writing to you about Pro early access. We don't sell it, share it, or add you to other lists. To be removed, email hello@turboconvert.xyz from that address and we'll delete it.

Before our first announcement, we'll send you a single email asking you to confirm. If you don't confirm, we delete your address. Either way, we delete the list twelve months after Pro opens.

Analytics

We use Umami Cloud to learn which pages help people. Umami doesn't use cookies. Its script loads only on the live site, runs on the page rather than in the conversion worker, and never sees your files.

On each page view, the script sends the page address and title, the page you came from, your browser language and your screen size. From the request, Umami works out your browser, operating system, device type and rough location (country, region, city). It recognises a visit by a hash of your IP address, browser and our site ID, not by a cookie, and says it doesn't store personally identifiable information. Umami handles this data under its own privacy policy.

We also send the events below. Every event name and value is fixed in our code; anything that doesn't fit is dropped before it leaves the page. Your email is never part of an event.

convert_doneA batch of conversions finishes
  • pair: the conversion, such as dxf-to-pdf
  • files_bucket: how many files: 1, 2-5 or 6-100
  • ok: whether every file converted
convert_errorA file can't be converted
  • pair: the conversion
  • code: the kind of problem, such as corrupt, password or too-large
limit_hitA batch, ZIP or large-file card opens
  • reason: which card: batch, zip or large
upgrade_choiceYou choose an option on that card
  • choice: continue, pick_files or early_access
early_access_submitYou join Pro early access

format_requestedYou add a file type we don't convert yet
  • ext: its extension if it is on a fixed list, such as dwg; anything else is sent as other

To turn analytics off in your browser, open the developer console on turboconvert.xyz and run localStorage.setItem('umami.disabled', 1). Blockers that stop analytics scripts work too. The converter works the same either way.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't set cookies, and the site doesn't save anything in your browser's storage. The only exception is the analytics opt-out above, which you set yourself. If Cloudflare's security checks ever need to challenge a request, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie.

Payments

There are none. Pro isn't for sale yet, so we don't collect payment details. We'll update this page before that changes.

Your choices and rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. For most people that's the early access email, the only personal data we store ourselves. Write to hello@turboconvert.xyz and we'll reply within 30 days.

We keep your early access email because you asked us to, and you can withdraw that at any time. Hosting data and analytics rest on our legitimate interest in running a safe, useful site, without cookies or tracking across other sites. Cloudflare and Umami may process data outside your country.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions about privacy are welcome at hello@turboconvert.xyz.
